How Do I Fix My Internet Browser/dns Server?

I am running Windows Explorer version 7, but I dont think this is the issue, as my firefox isnt working either. When I attempt to load up any web pages, it says there is a DNS error. However, I am definately connected to the internet, as MSN is working fine. I’ve tried disabling my firewalls and deleting my cookies, but Im kinda stumped. Help?

  1. Branco says:

    try reseting ur tcp/ip stack
start> run > cmd then enter
type in these two commands: u should be logged in as administrator or account with administrative rights
    1) netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
    2) netsh winsock reset
you might need to restart your pc after these commands

Most likely one of the latest poison DNS cache attacks. To fix the immediate, open a command prompt and type in ipconfig /flushdns

That should reset all the DNS entries to blank.
If that doesn’t do the trick then something more serious such as your hosts file has been corrupted by an attack.
Note that I just cleaned up a similiar issue on a client’s computer by uninstalling Firefox entirely, after backing up their bookmarks. Make sure to remove any and all add-ons and plugins files when the option becomes available. Then use the flushdns. Then reboot. Then re-install firefox. Import your bookmarks.
This latest round of Poisoning of DNS cache seems pretty adept at circumventing firewalls. Client had ESET smart security suite installed and still had the issues.
