Can You Add A Domain Name To A Free Hosting Service Like Geocities?

I just registered a domain name, and I have an account with geocities. Can I register it with geocities, so that when someone types in the domain name, my site shows up?

Geocities does not support domain hosting. You have a few options:
    1. Check out some of the free domain hosting sites here… I found this page on Google and there are many more where this came from:http://www.webweaver.nu/domain.shtml
    2. This option is more stable. Often times free domain hosting sites have a catch. For this option, you should register a domain name at a good registrar (Moniker, GoDaddy, etc.) and use one of their forwarding services. There are two options for these. First, there is “domain forwarding”, which, when you type in http://www.mydomain.com, it will redirect to http://www.geocities.com/mydomain … this will be visible in the browser address bar. The second option is to use “domain cloaking”, which will forward to your new site, but the forwarded address will remain in the browser address bar… for example, when you type http://www.mydomain.com, the browser address bar will remain at http://www.mydomain.com but it will be forwarded to your http://www.geocities.com/mydomain web site.

I think at best you could redirect the domain to this Geocities account. If you have a domain name, you should just purchase a shared hosting account somewhere. It is well worth it to pay ~5/month and get the extra options of a real hosting account.

you can forward/redirect the domain name to your geocities page.for better result use the musking option. if geocities permits/provides name servers, you can change name server to point your domain to you website. Good Luck.

I wouldn’t host there, they have annoying banners.
I suggest to get a free host and literally the best free host is http://isoworld.0lx.net/
they have the best free hosting anywhere, with plenty of space and bandwith, plus great uptime
